Valerie Singleton Shares Her Best Tips For Mind Your Head

Valerie Singleton, the lovely former BBC presenter, will be chairing the Mind Your Head Conference on August 12th at Kingston Maurward. We asked her to share her thoughts on:

Staying young at heart

“I have always had friends (and boyfriends!) that are years younger than me who don’t seem to think of me the age I am. I don’t think of being older. In fact I just don’t really think about being a certain age. I hate people being pigeon holed.  I am interested in a lot – world news especially. I buy a lot of books. I take courses at places like Dillington and go to talks. I love the cinema. I am open to new music and ideas… I could never say as a friend of mine once did, many years ago now. ‘Oh I haven’t liked any music since the Beatles.’!! Dreadful that kind of attitude.

Running a business

“simplicITy computers is a great challenge and is great fun.  It came about because of two people I introduced to each other… for a completely different reason. It is a good team, again of all ages. I contribute in many ways. I have done the tutorials of course. ..but I also have a say in ideas, layout, the wording of press releases etc…. and again try and make use of my various contacts. I am not doing so much travel writing as I did so to have an involvement like simpliciITy keeps me on my toes and alert.”

The Mind Your Head Conference and Showcase

“I am sure it will be an interesting and challenging day. I am greatly looking forward to the different speakers and I am sure I will come home well motivated by what they have to say.”

Valerie is a great ambassador and role model for what we are promoting on August 12th

  • Having a positive attitude
  • Mixing with people of all ages
  • Having meaningful mental stimulation
  • Challenging yourself to do more
  • Never stop learning

Why not come and talk to Valerie at the conference or the Showcase on August 12th.  Tickets are on sale now.
