Local Business Adviser Explains Reasons for Attending the Mind Your Head Conference

Well known networker in the local Dorset community Laura McHarrie explains why she has bought a ticket to the Mind Your Head Conference.

The conference is aimed at encouraging mental potential and well-being across all ages.  It takes place on 12th August in the beautiful setting of Kingston Maurward College.  We have four renowned speakers, including Tony Buzan, the creator of Mind Maps.  Laura says “My primary reason for attending is to hear the Key Note Speakers.  I am a left brain thinker.  Over the last 10 years I have been developing my creative thinking skills.  I haven’t yet mastered Mind Maps, so I hope to be inspired by Tony Buzan to revisit these once again. I am also keen to hear the tips Dominic O’Brien has to share about memory triggers.  I am at that age where what I call the ‘mental pause’ is having a significant impact on the number of times I run up and down the stairs because I have forgotten things!”

Laura runs the BusinessXchange, a networking activity provided for Dorset businesses by WSX Enterprises.  BusinessXchange is one of 20 Mind Your Head ‘Brain Cells’ from around Dorset who will be exhibiting at the Showcase, which will run alongside the conference.  A Brain Cell is a mind stimulating activity provider. Laura explains why she chose to support the Phoenix Legacy by becoming a Brain Cell, “BusinessXchange is a learning and support network that operates on the ethos of action learning.  It helps people who are starting out in business learn from those who have experienced the start-up and growth issues that all businesses face.  We often see those who have been made redundant from corporate life wishing to create a living from the skills, experience and expertise they have built up over the years.  Often they don’t know how to market themselves.”

Laura was at the National Sailing Academy the day the Olympic Authority announced that London had won the bid.  She has a very positive view of what the Olympics coming to Weymouth means for the town.  “Seven years later, we have a new road, clever parking restrictions and the best programme of parties throughout most of July and the whole of August.  The Cultural Olympiad is going to be brilliant – and there’s a good chance of the UK winning a few medals here too!” she says.

If like Laura you want to understand more about how you can enjoy life and protect your future, then join her by buying your ticket.

Tickets for the Conference are £95.00 each and can be purchased in advance through the website www.mindyourheadchallenge.org.uk .  To attend the Showcase you can buy tickets on the day at Kingston Maurward for £3.00 a head (this includes entrance to the gardens, which is normally £5).
