Effective Ways to Manage Your Time

Do you ever feel that you are spreading yourself too thinly in your different areas of work? This was an issue which was raised at the creative ideas workshop on March 17th. Over a ten minute period, we used random word technique to find the following ways to help Stephen work smarter.

  • Clear unnecessary emotions out of the way, which can distract you and drain your energy, such as guilt, frustration or worry.
  • Prioritise what is urgent and important
  • Get support. It is OK to ask for help
  • Be flexible and be prepared to change your schedule
  • Get the right balance and don’t flit from job to job
  • Stay focused
  • Be aware of your stress levels and take regular breaks
  • Be realistic and don’t plan every minute of every day.
  • Allow for BUT time – ‘I would have done it but for that’
  • Give self a quiet space to think and relax
  • Reward yourself and celebrate success
  • Don’t set yourself up to fail by setting unrealistic targets

If you would like to learn more about Creative Thinking, our next workshop on May 5th will be looking at Edward de Bono’s Six Hats Thinking. If you want to improve your time management, the next workshop on this is April 22nd
