Good communication is a vital skill and empathy is part of that. Many problems exist in businesses due to a lack of or poor communication. One cause is the inability to appreciate the other person’s thoughts and feelings. The skill of empathy and empathic responding can be seen as a weakness by some, and yet others, like Simon Sinek, see it as a vital part of leadership best practice. Empathy has great power to engage people. It is more than just the ability to understand where the other person is coming from and to let them know that.
This 90 minute workshop is for you, if you are interested in:
- Defining empathy and its benefits to your business.
- Evaluating your current level of empathy and how much you can afford.
- Improving your empathic responses where required.
The purpose of this event is to provide the opportunity to explore the benefits of empathy and how much your business can realistically afford. It will include participation, challenge, and sharing of experience.
Where are you now?
How often do we think about the trait? Which of the following statements is how your team see you?
- You want to understand how I see things.
- You usually sense or realise what I mean.
- You nearly always know exactly what I mean.
- You appreciate exactly how the things I experience feel to me.
- You may understand my words but do not see the way I feel.
- You sometimes think that I feel a certain way because that’s the way you feel.
- You do not realise how sensitive I am about some of the things we discuss.
- Your response to me is usually so fixed and automatic that I feel I don’t really get through to you.
How sure are you that is the way they see you? How will you check this out?
